What is the cultural context for poetry at this particular moment in history? What do readers hunger for in the age of the electronic reader? What are the impacts of advancing technology and declining meaningful time spent engaging beyond the computer/smartphone screen? We’ll discuss this topic and listen to some examples of “popular” poems that seem to pervade technology mediums, along with historical pieces that reflect the age in which they were written.
