Barry McKinnon, Your Humble Narrator & Joy McKinnon in Prince George July 2015

Barry McKinnon Interview (from July 2015)

Barry McKinnon died in Prince George, BC, on October 30, 2023. Your humble narrator drove to Prince George in July 2015 to conduct an interview with one of the most underrated Cascadian poets ever. A man who, in Gary Snyder’s words, “stayed put and watched what happened.” This wide-ranging, open and honest interview was first published here: https://paulenelson.com/2015/08/04/barry-mckinnon-interview/ It was also published in February, 2024, in the book Cascadian Prophets (Interviews 1999-2023). You can read some fine tributes to Barry at his site: https://www.barrymckinnon.com/tributes

I hope you enjoy this fascinating chat with a Northern BC poet, who understood the projective approach, had an original syntax and who leaves an enormous legacy in Northern BC.
