SUMMARY:Poet as Radio Fall 2025
DESCRIPTION:Poet as Radio: Writing from Intuition\nA 5-week online poetry workshop designed for folks with a wide variety of experience with poetry and with a keen interest in spirituality and the occult. This course is more than a workshop; it’s a journey into the unknown\, where you’ll discover hidden messages and ideas both from within yourself and the outside world. Through chance\, divination\, games\, and ritual\, you’ll learn to trust your intuition and let your spontaneity guide your writing. \nParticipants will engage in simple but fun word games to encourage spontaneity\, explore the body as a receiver of intuitive messages\, and develop and practice small rituals that enhance their perception of everyday life. Readings will include works by Jack Spicer\, Hoa Nguyen\, and CA Conrad among others. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to deepen your poetic practice\, this workshop will provide you with the tools and inspiration to transform your writing. Join us as we tune into the invisible frequencies and uncover hidden messages emanating from the world outside! \nSundays 3-5:00 PM Pacific Time\nSeptember 7 – October 5\, 2025 \nSeptember 7\, 14\, 21\, 28\nOctober 5 \nOnline\nREGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:Winter in America (Again in Sacramento
DESCRIPTION:WINTER IN AMERICA (AGAIN — POETS RESPOND TO 2024 ELECTION: A HYBRID READING FEATURING CONTRIBUTORS TO THE ANTHOLOGY \nThis event will be in person and via Zoom. Monday\, July 21 at 7:30-9:30 PM PDT\nSacramento Poetry Center\n1719 25th Street\nSacramento\, CA 95816\nZOOM LINK  \nSPC is grateful to be able to host a reading featuring contributors to the important anthology\, Winter In America (Again — Poets Respond to 2024 Election (Carbonation Press\, Spokane\, 2025). They will be joined by local poets who will also read selections from the book. As we already see dire consequences to the results of the election\, it is imperative that all of us work toward actions that will help mitigate the damage. Poets are often at the forefront of such action — talking back and speaking to the heart of the issues. So it is with this collection. Many thanks to all of the contributors and local participants. Special gratitude is offered to poet and translator (and anthology contributor) William O’Daly for his efforts to make this event possible.\n \nThe readers — some of whom are editors and editorial board members for the book as well as contributors — include Greg Bem\, Francisco Dominguez\, Lara Gularte\, Lorin Medley\, Paul Nelson\, William O’Daly\, Roxy Power\, Beverly Parayno\, Theresa Whitehill\, Cathleen Williams\, Katie Sarah Zale\, and Patrick Grizzell.
