Poetry Postcard Fest ’25 Wrap Up ZoomParty

September 5, 2025
by Zach Charles

Join us on Zoom on Saturday, September 6 for the Poetry Postcard Fest ’25 Wrap Up ZoomParty. We will meet at 2 pm PST and chat for 2 hours about our experiences this summer in the Fest, share some of our favorite cards we received, and talk about ways to keep the poetic energy flowing into the autumn. We’ll also talk about some exciting potential for the 20th Poetry Postcard Fest next year!

Personally, I received a few stunning postcards over the past couple months. Some highlights include an embroidered card, a watercolor, and a goatman. In terms of the cards I sent, it was a much more relaxed year for me. I participated in 3 groups last year and just 1 this year. I used many cards to work on a couple poems I have been writing for a little while. They were very helpful to that end, and I’m also quite proud of a few of the poems on their own. I can’t wait to hear about everyone else’s highlights! Meet us on the ZoomRoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/2064225002

Registration for next year’s Poetry Postcard Fest opens on September 1! If you need more Postcard energy in your life before next July, check out the Cascadia Poetry Festival 9. You can register for a Gold Pass to see all the readings, panels, and take all the workshops.

Unfortunately, I am unable to attend the zoom party but wanted to say I found the exercise quite stimulating. I have not been consistently writing of late and found the discipline was helpful. I have used poetry to process for many years so I hope I did not overwhelm… i appreciated the different voices and tried to imagine who was reading mine…
    A lovely exercise.

I couldn’t make the zoom meeting. Was it recorded? If so, link?

Postcarding and DaySonging (A Workshop). In this session it will be a presentation of how the postcard fest developed, how the daysong developed, how I prepare for the fest and how participants attending prepare for the fest, as well as how to prepare for a successful daysong. The similarities of the daysong to serial poetry could be discussed, as well as the effort to put one’s self into the open, which has benefits in one’s own life.

Interview with Postcard Poet Laura Gamache

Part of the Cascadia 2050 mission is: to inspire artists and poets of the next generation to consider bioregionalism and intuitive poetic approach as a way to foster a more just and sustainable Cascadia by 2050. To this end, one of our goals is to interview people who help us spread awareness by having practices in their lives that reflect these values. This interview with Postcard Poet Laura Gamache, a Seattle who has published poetry in the usual places, such as chapbooks, journals and anthologies, and also unusual places, such as buses, is the first of the series.
