Poetry Postcard Fest poet Eleanor Keisman is publishing a climate fiction novella entitled New Animal through Broken Tribe Press. Congratulations Eleanor!

It’s the year 2081, and the world is in crisis. Wildfires, famine, and disease threaten every living creature. After a devastating fire at Yellowstone, Pope finds himself alone, the sole surviving member of his pack. Together with a human and wolfdog, Pope guides the group to build a makeshift pack, one which helps them survive, but reminds them of what they’ve each lost. But when another wildfire separates the three and they encounter a real wolf pack, Pope must confront the painful consequences that the unexpected pack he’s created has changed him beyond recognition,” Eleanor explains of the book. “A lyric, poignant tale of a wolf’s ordeal to recover his place in the wild, New Animal is at once a sobering forecast of humanity’s impact on the natural world and an exploration of the fleeting moments that leave identity permanently redefined.”

This is my second year participating in the festival, and I really enjoy the process of writing spontaneously, and receiving poems by mail. This year, I’m trying out a new approach where I draw each postcard spontaneously as well. It’s a wonderful creative process, I learn a lot, and I’m so glad to be a part of this,” Keisman says of the impact of the Poetry Postcard Fest on her writing process.

The novella is currently available for pre-order and will be released next week! You can pre-order New Animal HERE. Learn more about Eleanor and her writing by clicking HERE.
