Postcard Poems by Martha Clarkson

Postcard poet Martha Clarkson published some of her postcard poems from 2025 in Hobart Pulp last week! Congratulations on the publication, Martha! We’re so glad the Poetry Postcard Fest provided inspiration to write poems that you ended up sharing. You can read the full article, which includes some of Martha’s poetry that is not PPF related, HERE. Join us for the 2026 Poetry Postcard Fest to write 31 poems that may also end up being published one day!

Read Martha’s published postcard poems below:

as he, hand in plastic, knelt at the weedy altar
of his dog’s steaming shit and barely nodded
as if caught, or maybe embarrassed,
or somehow less.

BODY LANGUAGE

He overlooked
her Texas-shaped birthmark
because he wanted to have sex
After, he pointed out Austin
then Lubbock
