Nan Jackson postcard binder

Nan’s Poetry Postcard Fest Binder

August 23, 2024
by Veronica Martinez

From PPF participant Nan Jackson:

After sending my 31st postcard (32 counting the extra one to Peggy Miller’s new address), I put together this binder. It’s been fun, and I have this memento to look back on.

We hope everyone is having a wonderful PPF 2024! If you have something from PPF 2024 that you’d like to share, send them to your list captain or post them on the Facebook page so we can share your incredible work with all the PPF participants!

    What/who is a “list captain”?

I mailed my poetry postcard to the last name on my list yesterday. It was a sad feeling. Somehow I seemed to say good bye to a treasured group of sister and brother poets. So glad that I was able to participate again this year.

The person helping with each group of 19 poets. There were several List Captains this year: Paul E Nelson, Verónica Martinez, Ina Roy-Faderman, Zach Charles, Sally Hedges-Blanquez, Margaret Lee and Judy Kleinberg. They all responded with love for the fest and compassion for the postcard poets they engaged. We have one more person stepping up for 2025 and would love a few more. This is so helpful for this project.

I have had to sit this year’s fest out ( another move), and
missed it so much. I have read all your comments and posts on this site with envy.

This would have been my 7th year, and I send regards to all those on my lists from years
    past.

Missed each of you- see you
    next August.

    Hello Paul!
Yes. Yes to me, Lulu, stepping up to be a LIST CAPTAIN for next years POPO fest. I will send you my new studio address as well for updating for next year’s POPO fest.
And what a beautiful artful collection that Nan has shared with us here. Very inspiring way to reflect on all the creativity of poetry and yes, even art!

Thank you, Linda! All the postcards I used are illustrations from Richard Scarry’s children’s books. Each poem has something to do with the image and the recipient of the postcard.

I LOVE the Richard Scarry illustrations! What a lovely way to contact each postcard recipient 🙂

Bless you Lulu! More info coming.
