ORDINARY MADNESS INAUGURAL AUDIO CONTEST

The winning entry will be featured as its own episode on
www.ordinarymadness.org and iTunes. The author will receive a prize pack featuring books by past guests and will be invited to be a guest on the show.

Deadline: February 28, 2013
Contest Guidelines:

Writers may enter a maximum of ten minutes of original, unpublished prose or poetry as an MP3. Multiple submissions are welcome, but must be submitted as separate files. MP3 files should be sent as attachments and titled in this format:

author name_entry title. Please include a brief synopsis of the piece
and an author bio in the body of the e-mail. Submissions should be e-mailed to
steve@ordinarymadness.org

Judging will be based on literary merit and on the use of audio performance to
enhance the literary work.

Submissions will be judged by Steve Barker and Elissa Washuta.

About the judges:

Steve Barker is the stage manager and co-founder of “Cheap Wine & Poetry” and
“Cheap Beer & Prose.” In 2009 he co-edited the chapbook “Hill Poems: A Collection
of Capitol Hill Poetry.” He has had poems, short stories and essays published in
small press publications and blogs nationwide. Sometimes he contributes work to
The Capitol Hill Times and the movie blog Movies About Gladiators. He is the host of
Ordinary Madness.

Elissa Washuta, a member of the Cowlitz Indian Tribe, was born in New Jersey and
now lives in Seattle. She received an MFA in creative writing from the University
of Washington in 2009 and has been the recipient of an Artist Trust GAP Award, a
Potlatch Fund Native Arts Grant, and a Made at Hugo House Fellowship. Her work
has appeared in Filter literary journal and is forthcoming from Third Coast. She
serves as adviser and lecturer for the Department of American Indian Studies at
the University of Washington. Her first book, My Body Is a Book of Rules, will be
published by Red Hen Press in 2014.
