Our neighborhood creek, Mapes Creek or dxʷwuqʷəb in Lushootseed, which runs through Kubota Garden here in Rainier Beach, is a jewel that few people know even exists. That is because most of its course it runs through a pipe. A good section of the creek, in Be’er Sheva Park, was daylighted about ten years ago, but many wonder what would it take to daylight a much larger section.

That’s where Logan McClish comes in. According to his firm’s website: “Logan is a water resources engineer who specializes in evaluating the effects of land development on water resources and designing effective, ecologically friendly solutions.”

Logan lives in South Seattle on a small homestead with his wife, son, dog, and flock of chickens. For work, he is an ecological and water resources engineer that specializes in habitat restoration. He loves spending time with his family, being outside, getting his hands dirty in the garden, working on projects, and hosting community events and dinners.
