Tessa Hulls and I met when she donated a poster for the 2013 edition of the Allen Ginsberg Open Mic Poetry marathon. On February 20, 2024 I caught up with her on Zoom to discuss her first book, a graphic memoir Feeding Ghosts.
What a joy it was to reconnect with Tessa. You can attend the launch of her new book at Town Hall, Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at 7:30pm, Wyncote NW Forum 1119 8th Ave (Entrance off Seneca St.) Seattle, Washington 98101 Tessa Hulls is an artist, a writer, and an adventurer. Her essays have appeared in The Washington Post, Atlas Obscura, and Adventure Journal, and her comics have been published in The Rumpus, City Arts, and SPARK. In Feeding Ghosts she delves into her matrilineal history, which includes fact-finding trips to the People’s Republic of China and a translation of a book her grandmother wrote. Healing the bloodline is the main thread and it is fascinating.
