From Kathleen Flenniken:
Hi my friends,
Thank you for contributing to my poet laureate blog, The Far Field. I’m trying to beat some bushes for Washington State poets as I launch into my last six months as poet laureate. I am featuring each poet just once on The Far Field, which isn’t hard to do, except I am low on submissions at the moment and soon won’t have time to really go after people to submit. So I am hoping you can help me. Will you please take a look at my index and look for anybody missing and let me know? And if you have emails for those poets, I’d be really grateful. I’m especially interested in poets from outside the Seattle area (though I’m interested in Seattle poets too, have no fear) and poets who have been marginalized for whatever reason.
I am working on several but I know I am overlooking a lot of folks. Plus, I’m looking for student work too, so don’t hesitate to send me your best students.
Thank you for taking a look for me! I so appreciate your help.
Kathleen

Hi Kathleen,
I’m past poet laureate of Redmond, a position now held by Jeannine Hall Gailey. Your predecessor Sam was on the panel that hired me. I’ve been pretty well published and have had that great experience of figuring out how to be a “civic poet”, an interesting task. I’m now working on a body of work about women’s ways of getting things done, often under the public and political radar. Hope you’ll keep me in mind.
Rebecca, send Kathleen a poem or two. Paul
my pen name is Jan Ice, that is what I write under
I would be thrilled to be included in this project I think it is wonderfull to share with other writers.

I don’t have a blog or a web site for my writing
You would be missing an amazing and worthy poet if you didn’t include Stephen Roxborough. His e-mail is: stephenroxborough@gmail.com or you can find him on FB.
Please look at his work. It is really wonderful!
Would you like to see poems here,or emailed?
I’m a Washingtonian teaching and living abroad (Lusaka, Zambia). My school recently started a “Poet Laureate” contest for our school and I would love to nominate this year’s Poet Laureate, Jessica Schurz.
