As we did at our Auburn location at least 7 times, we’ll meet starting at 8P on Saturday, April 3 to celebrate the life and poetry of counterculture icon Allen Ginsberg, as well as the Beat Movement in general.
Band of Poets, led by John Burgess, Jed Meyers, Victor David Sandiego,
Sergey Feldman & Amanda Penn, with special guest Julene Tripp Weaver, will present AG’s Wichita Vortex Sutra.
You are welcome to read your own work, your favorite Ginsberg or Beat poem (or any poem for that matter) and kick in a few bucks for SPLAB to pay its bills. (Tax deductible!)
Again, it happens Saturday, April 3 at 8:00 p.m. @ Empire Expresso, 3829 S Edmunds St., Seattle. Plan on getting coffee’d up and staying there as long as you can.
After Band of Poets performs, we’ll open it up to Open Mic. We’ll also have a round of exquisite corpse writing and a lightning round, where participants can read a short (haiku-length) poem between drum beats. We’ll go until we can’t anymore.
As Bruce Greeley wold say: Holy the Bop Apocalypse!
wold/would & DO: like a steamshovel, dig, bruddah, hope to make it…
holy the groaning saxophone! Holy Peoria & Seattle……!!
