“Represent! 98118!” is a community arts project seeking to document “A Day in the Life of America’s Most Diverse Zip Code.”

From midnight to midnight, on Wednesday, October 5, 2011, poets and photographers, amateurs and professionals will make a record of life in Columbia City, Genesee, Hillman City, Holly Park, Lakewood, Rainier Beach, Rainier Valley, and Seward Park. Selected poems and photographs will be displayed throughout the community.

Anyone who lives, works, plays, worships, or studies in the 98118 zip code is welcome to participate. Poems do not have to be written in English. The project is sponsored by SPLAB (Spokenword Lab) in Columbia City. Information can be found on the SPLAB website at www.splab.org

A meeting will be held on Saturday, February 26, at 10am for anyone interested in participating. All are welcome.

The meeting will be at SPLAB in Columbia City, located in the Columbia building (formerly Orca and the New School, adjacent to the Columbia City Famers Market). The building is accessible with plenty of free parking in the back; the Columbia City Light Rail Station and the #7 bus stop are both a few blocks away.

Please come to the meeting and help us get the word out.
