Poetilla Floats again Tuesday

May 17, 2013
Ryukan

This from Scot Brannon:

Lake WA Ship CanalWho was it said, ‘Summer’s lease hath all too short a date’? Probably Billy Collins. And so true. It is past time! Rough Poezilla does shake the darling buds of May.

We depart this Tuesday, May 21 at 6:50 pm aboard a 21’ electric boat with a shade canopy and panels that can be closed or open. No need to worry about weather. Bring food and drink if you like. We’ll drift in the middle of the lake for a friendly but intense literary plunge.

There’s space for the first 10 who RSVP or arrive. Please bring 10 copies of any work you plan to read. We’ll return to the dock at 9 pm. Your donation of between $6.50 and $9 helps cover the boat rental.

If you fear the overbooked Poetilla, a reminder that I’ve added an RSVP function so

folks can reserve space.

If you’re looking for intelligent critique of your work — whether poetry, fiction or something in between — this writers’ round table on the water. Spend a couple of hours on Lake Union in the company of fellow writers. (Check out some pictures of past Poetillas.)

Poetilla launches from the Electric Boat Company dock (2046 Westlake Ave N #102) on the west side of the lake, just north of China Harbor restaurant. There’s plenty of parking. Also reachable via the 27, 17, and 358 buses. Walking down the winding stairs from Dexter or Aurora Ave to lake level is a treat.

If you want to grab a sandwich for the ride, I’m told that Westlake Deli is good. If you’re walking down the hill climb, Lyon’s Grocery on Dexter has a great selection of beer and wine.

<<PLEASE FEEL FREE TO FORWARD!>>
