Zach Charles releases first book of poetry, 24 Portraits at 24!

Cascadia Poetics Lab volunteer and audio assistant Zach Charles has released their first book of poetry, 24 Portraits at 24, through Carbonation Press! The description of the book comes from Carbonation Press:

Twentyfour Self Portraits at Twentyfour is an exploration of young adulthood in the third decade of the 21st century. It asks questions of elders and ancestors that range from: Why do we still count the years based on Jesus? to: How do I leave this planet better than I found it? In it the poet stands between two mirrors and peers deeply into their reflection, looking for clues to help them better understand themself and their world.

Beginning as a committee member for the Poetry Postcard Fest, Zach Charles has quickly become a vital part of Cascadia Poetics Lab as a founding member of Cascadia 2050 (formerly the Youth Committee) and as Paul Nelson’s audio assistant for the Cascadian Prophets Podcast. They live near Alki Beach with their partner, cat, and dog, and they teach Spanish on Vashon Island. Their poetry practice consists of portraits, conversations, and an ongoing effort to compose 10,000 haiku, and they also make various multimedia art projects.
