COURSE DESCRIPTION

Students in this course will be attending (with an option to volunteer during) the Cascadia Poetry Festival to be held at Seattle University’s Pigott Auditorium and Paccar Atrium, and at locations in the surrounding neighborhood, from May 1-4, 2014. The Cascadia Poetry Festival is an international event which seeks to bioregionally animate & culturally construct Cascadia by gathering writers, artists, scientists and activists to collaborate, discover and foster deeper connection between all inhabitants and the place itself. Students registered for this course are required to do the following things in order to receive credit: 1) Contact and arrange to meet with the instructor prior to the festival to discuss logistics and expectations (or arrange for an alternative means to have this discussion); 2) Attend two days of the festival, during which registered students will meet as a class at a designated time and location at the festival site for a discussion; and 3) Students registered for this course need to submit a written reflection on the festival based on some questions and guidelines that the instructor will provide.
