The next round of online workshops begins March 3, 2022 with the first of five sessions that happen Thursdays from 4-6pm. The workshops started during the pandemic and were geared for people who have participated in the Poetry Postcard Fest, or for those who wanted a better sense of the theory and practice of spontaneous composition. The first course was called Poetics as Cosmology and subsequent courses followed, all designed to see how a stance toward poem-making can mirror and support a stance toward life-building and move poetic practice past the prompt/occasional poem to serial form. They could be called The Poet’s Life.

Testimonials can be read here.

Registration

There is a limit of 15 in the class and course materials for participants will be posted a week before the first session for discussion during week one. No participants are required to share the work they write, but are expected to discuss their experience with the course materials.

Studying poets who go beyond Open Form to Projective/Organic/The Practice of Outside/Impresonal mode(s) has been transformational in my own life, making the act of composition a deep occasion of experience, opening up new realms of self inter-connetced to the ancestors, to place and to all those poets and writers who used the act of writing as soul-building.
