Join the Poetry Postcard Fest project board on Sunday, June 6, 2024 at 1 P.M. PDT for a PPF Zoom open house! Now that we are less than a month away from the Poetry Postcard Fest, prepare for the fest by attending the Zoom and asking any questions you may have!

We will discuss the Poetry Postcard Fest, techniques and inspiration for the Fest, listen to postcard poems from the PPF board members and answer any questions. Information regarding this year’s daysong prompt will also be provided, along with information on our upcoming Postcards from Here event and more! We hope to see you in the Zoom room! The event will be recorded and shared online for those unable to attend.

This sounds like a wonderful idea!

Usage correction: To avoid confusion, please note that the Postcard Poetry Fest Committee of the Cascadia Poetics LAB (CPL) is not a “project board” nor are the fabulous committee members “board members”. They are committee members on one of five major committees that create and organize activities sanctioned and funded by CPL. Thanks for understanding, and my apology for sounding pedantic – just doing part of my job as Secretary to the Board of CPL.

Postcarding & Daysinging (A Workshop)

Postcarding and DaySonging (A Workshop). In this session it will be a presentation of how the postcard fest developed, how the daysong developed, how I prepare for the fest and how participants attending prepare for the fest, as well as how to prepare for a successful daysong. The similarities of the daysong to serial poetry could be discussed, as well as the effort to put one’s self into the open, which has benefits in one’s own life.

Interview with Postcard Poet Laura Gamache

Part of the Cascadia 2050 mission is: to inspire artists and poets of the next generation to consider bioregionalism and intuitive poetic approach as a way to foster a more just and sustainable Cascadia by 2050. To this end, one of our goals is to interview people who help us spread awareness by having practices in their lives that reflect these values. This interview with Postcard Poet Laura Gamache, a Seattle who has published poetry in the usual places, such as chapbooks, journals and anthologies, and also unusual places, such as buses, is the first of the series.
