This Giving Tuesday
Here’s how you can be a part of the generosity movement
Become a Supporter of Cascadia Poetics LAB
Thank you for being a part of the Cascadia Poetics LAB team. Together we can empower people to practice poetry and deepen connections to place, self & the present moment.
Thank you
We thank all participants and attendees at the recent 8th Cascadia Poetry Festival. We hope to stage this at the Hugo House annually for years to come.
The festival has a budget of $30,000 dollars and we keep registration affordable and pay poets a modest stipend. In addition, printing costs for the beautiful Cascadian Zen Volume II will not be recouped for months. A year-end donation helps us get through this difficult post-festival time. Given the state of our country right now, supporting true culture that is anchored to place is more important than ever and our costs have never been higher.
Please consider a year end donation, or a podcast sponsorship, a donation targeted at Watershed Press, our publishing imprint, or buy a few copies of Cascadian Zen. CPL turns 31 on December 14, 2024, and we can use support at this time to go into 2025 in a financially robust way.
We are living in a time of Whole Systems Transition.
We are living in a time of Whole Systems Transition. The people of the parenthesis, we live after the death of the old gods and before the birth of the new. One thing is certain and is a fundamental truth that gives us hope – together we can do extraordinary things. Whether that’s through donations to community organizations or assisting neighbors with everyday tasks, generosity makes a positive impact on the world. Acts of kindness and compassion are required now as much as any time in history.
Cascadia Poetics LAB is participating in Giving Tuesday December 3rd
the global day of unity and giving
As you know, our organization is a vibrant community whose workshops, festivals, and opportunities for connection can open the door to transformative experiences. Our recent Cascadia Poetry Festival (the 8th) garnered comments like: “Cascadia Poetry Festival might just be the last stronghold of a truly innovative and wide-ranging poetry event. It has not been colonized by academia or co-opted by special interests. I could hear salmon in the creeks, winds scouring the summits, water drain through the waterways of Cascadia. All of it backed by the hum of what humans do best: sing out their poetry.” Add to this our monthly Cascadian Prophets podcast, 18 years of the Poetry Postcard Fest, the publication of Cascadian Zen Volume II via our imprint Watershed Press, several other projects and the fact that our board is now 50% Latinx and you see how being at this for 30 years creates results and a lasting legacy.
Please consider making a tax-deductible donation, tell your friends and family why you believe in our work and encourage them to support us too!

Testimonials
“What timely alchemy is this? Poetics as Cosmology with readings from Brenda Hillman’s In a Few Minutes Before Later got me writing again. For five weeks, I’ve been breathing in from an open field and exhaling without the usual constrictions of thought and form. Paul Nelson throws the raw materials in a pot: a group of new and seasoned writers, all things organic and serial, and then stirs in various prompts and excitements. There’s a whole lot of heart, mind, and soul scholarship on offer here. Paul is the real deal.”
